Conceptual change lessons and interviews with key informants were videotaped and audiotape recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using the process of analytic induction. The analysis showed that first grade students did adopt misconceptions embedded in the story, and that most of the students were able to make conceptual changes after experiencing multiple lessons that challenged their misconceptions.
